the invitation

On May 27th, 1990 the first post-war Poland elections to commune and borough councils were held. Elections that initiated the stream of changes in our villages, cities and towns. The commune of Serock also stepped in on the way of profound changes. It had a few important trumps. The history of the town, dating back to the early Middle-Ages, the nearness of the capital, and the location of Serock at the confluence of two rivers, the close by Lake Zegrzyńskie – this landscape, location, and historic potential should have been used.

And it has been used. Today there are over twenty year-long training and holiday centres operating in Serock commune that use the picturesque location of the commune and create interesting opportunities for arriving guests. More and more people, connected professionally with the Warsaw agglomeration, would like to live here – the atmosphere of the little town is evidently tempting, and the attractive investment conditions are also tempting. The historic virtues of the town are not without importance – Serock is one of the oldest towns in Mazovia – the preserved medieval layout of the market, with the reconstructed development of the frontages not only does bring order to the space of the town, but it also gives inhabitants and tourists the feeling that there is somewhere the town centre – the heart – that unites during events, ventures or on ordinary Sunday afternoons, when you can go out, arrive at the market, sit down on a bench near a fountain and have a rest.

However, in Serock commune it is no use wasting time or being lazy for too long. Numerous hiking and bicycle tracks, a beach, an aqua-park, holiday cruises by passenger river boat on the Zegrzyński Lagoon – attractions that are offered by the commune do not permit staying too long in one place. The calendar of events, especially in the summer season, hounds on a lot. Celebrations of St. Adalbert – the Patron Saint of Serock – days of Garlands, the Kupalnock Folklore Meeting, Family Picnics, the Holiday of Earth Gifts, and also a lot of sports ventures – Serock offers, encourages, and involves everybody.
